The apprenticeship programme will give you a wide range of knowledge, experience and, most importantly, qualifications to help you develop a career within the leisure industry. You’ll also get a whole host of additional qualifications and opportunities to see how the leisure industry works.  

At the end of this apprenticeship you could be a qualified Fitness Instructor and Lifeguard or a qualified Swimming Teacher and Lifeguard. 

If you are interested in fitness and you feel able to motivate and inspire others to develop their skills, this Apprenticeship could suit you well. 

Apprentice jobs are a 18 months fixed term contract with the opportunity for a permanent role. Work activity across the 18 months will include supporting and working as a leisure attendant/lifeguard, swimming teacher, fitness coach, class instructor and customer service assistant

As part of your apprenticeship, you’ll receive real work experience working alongside our experienced, highly-trained team within a fully operational leisure facility gaining the skills required to safely operate in all areas.   Apprenticeship qualifications include swimming, lifeguarding and fitness, and there’s also additional courses in first aid, mental health first aid, healthy conversations and covid rehabilitation.

You’ll be paid a salary while you learn and be entitled to a range of staff benefits.  Your salary will start at £4.81 per hour increasing up to £9.50 with qualifications and after year one.

To start an apprenticeship, you need to be aged 16 or over and interested in a career in sports, leisure, fitness, wellbeing and improving the lives of Rochdale residents.
