The Phantom of the Opera (1925) with Live Organ

Trade trick-or-treat for a night of gothic cinematic grandeur!

On Halloween, Lon Chaney’s Phantom will rise on the big screen inside
Rochdale Town Hall’s spellbinding Great Hall.

The 1925 silent classic will be accompanied live on the Hall’s mighty J.J.
Binns organ (1913) – a nationally important instrument, widely regarded as
one of Binns’ finest. Its 3,018 pipes and 53 speaking stops, make this the
perfect source of thunder, whispers, and heart-racing crescendos, all under
the hands and feet of internationally acclaimed Scottish organist, Aaron
Hawthorne.
Why this event is unmissable:
• Cinema in a truly unique setting – the perfect backdrop for one of
cinema’s most iconic horror tales!
• Live music you can feel – The Binns organ turns silent cinema into a
multi-sensory experience that will send a chill down your spine!
• A Halloween to remember – a seriously spooky building steeped in
history and ghost stories mixed with the ferocious sounds of the
organ alongside a truly terrifying epic.
Make a night of it: come in costume, bring friends, and soak up the spooky
atmosphere as the Phantom’s world unfolds in real time. Who knows,
there may even be some surprises along the way…
Certificate: PG. Please note, with live organ and a seriously spooky setting,
it may feel scarier than a standard screening
