Hollingworth Lake’s Heritage Boat Tour is free of charge during England’s largest festival of history and culture – ‘Heritage Open Days’ running on several days in September why not book yourself on and weave your way through Hollingworth Lake’s rich tapestry. Discover the hidden history of Hollingworth Lake from it’s beginnings in 1794 to feed the Rochdale Canal, to becoming known as ‘The Weighvers’ Seaport’ and a favourite Victorian tourist attraction through to its role in great sporting achievements and more. 20 minutes will be spent in our heritage timeline room where you will be introduced to the origins of the lake and its rich history over the last 200 years followed by a 25 minute tour of Hollingworth Lake abord our passenger ferry. This heritage tour is the ideal way to learn about the many interesting facts in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Booking essential, under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. Sorry no dogs, although guide dogs are welcome.
