Summer Holiday, Activity and Food (HAF) programme
As children and young people return to school this week, we’ve taken a look back at the great fun we’ve had during the Holiday, Activity and Food (HAF) summer holiday activities.
Working with lots of providers across the borough there was a wide variety of free activities in Heywood, Middleton, the Pennines and Rochdale with a healthy meal.
Children have been able to have fun, try new things and make new friends.
Activities included sports, water activities at Hollingworth Lake, raft building, swimming lessons, parkour, music, art, drama, poetry and trips out.
The HAF programme takes place every Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays until 2024.
Becoming a local provider
The Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is funded by the Department for Education. Rochdale Borough Council and Your Trust are coordinating the programme and managing the grant making process. Activities will run every Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays until 2024.
We are seeking to fund a diverse range of projects and enrichment activities which are attractive and engaging for all ages and abilities of school children and include nutritious food. Activities can be open to all children with priority given to those receiving benefits-related free school meals. Those not on free school meals can pay to attend if there are sufficient spaces. Spaces for children on free school meals will be made available at no cost to the family.
Any local organisations that can provide safe, fun and engaging activities to children during the school holidays are invited to help us improve the programme further.
