We met with the community curators at the Pioneer’s Museum for an introductory session to meet the new Heritage Coordinator – Laura Weaver.
With it being Ramadan, we shifted our focus from food for the workshop, the group learnt how to make their own incense. The group worked together to grind up the lavender flowers into a powder using a pestle and mortal as part of the preparation for the incense. They learnt how to combine ingredients like lavender, qist al hindi, cinnamon and essential oils to create incense.
This was a chance for the group and the coordinator to get to know one another, share stories and hear about what they have enjoyed about being part of the Dining Room project so far.
