After a summer break, the first session back with the Community Curators was held at the Arts and Heritage Resource Centre. The session was facilitated by staff from our collections team, Helen our Collections Manager and Steph our Collections and Exhibitions Coordinator. This session was to finalise the collections objects that had been selected for two of the cases that will be in the Dining Room, welcome and celebration.

The objects were all laid out for the group to look at as it had been some time since they had chosen them. It allowed the group to think about each theme and make sure that all the objects they had previously selected still fit and felt right.

It was an exciting and engaging array of items, that evoked memories for some people in the group, and they shared stories about their associations to some of the objects.  There were only some minor adjustments that the group requested, a couple of objects were removed or moved into a different case. Overall, the group were really happy with everything that was laid out, so the next time they will see the objects will be when they are in situ in the Dining Room.

The next thing the group will be working on is the next iteration of No Such Thing; we will be meeting with Renny from Quarantine to formulate a menu of questions and hold a rehearsal ahead of the event. No Such Thing will be taking place in Heywood Market at Daisys Café on the 22 of October. If you would like a free lunch and a chance to chat to a stranger, you can find out more info and sign up here: No Such Thing.
