Over the last few weeks, the community curators have been working with Quarantine to devise a menu of questions for another edition of their project, No Such Thing. The group have met with Renny from Quarantine three times in total to ensure the questions are right and have a rehearsal to see how the menu operates in real time.

The menu usually has a theme or topic, and this develops naturally as the group discuss various topics that might be personal to them or what’s happening socially and politically. This menu’s theme was respect.

The menu of questions acted as a prompt for the No Such Thing event. This is the second time the group have worked with Quarantine, the first being at last years Side by Side Festival. This time round we held the event at the Ukrainian Club, they prepared a delicious Ukrainian menu for the lunch that included varenyky and salads. Members of the public were invited to sign up for the event, which entitled them to have a conversation with a stranger over a free lunch. The Community Curators were the hosts and were paired up with a stranger.

This concept was conceived through Quarantine and is a great way to connect people that may not usually meet, over some delicious food. We wanted to try put these events ahead of Touchstones reopening to see how they work. We hope that we will continue with these events and will plan them into the future programme for the Dining Room!
