In 2024, the focus was on waste reduction and sustainability. M6’s production Nest, raised questions about consumerism and how much we really need to be happy.  In workshops, children explored the impact of waste on people and animals.

With artist Vincent James, the children created shadow puppets out of waste materials. They worked in pairs to create different animals that they then operated behind a screen to create a short performance.

Choreographer, Magdalen Bartlett of Afrocats, delivered a session in creative movement. Children worked together to create a performance exploring the movements of plants and trees as they grow and bloom.

A final celebration week took place in libraries across the borough. The children viewed a compiled video of their shadow puppet performances and images of their creative movements, which you can view below. They took part in activities that gave them the chance to reflect on their experiences and creations.
