
The Rochdale Borough Active Awards, formerly known as the Rochdale Borough Sports Awards, recognise and celebrate the contributions and achievements to sport, physical activity and helping the local community to be active.
Celebrating those who have gone above and beyond over the past 12 months and work tirelessly to support individuals or community clubs, for the love of the sport or their community.

Active Travel Champion
Awarded to an individual or group who are devoted to reducing the barriers to active travel in the Borough, either through campaigning for infrastructure improvements or inspiring and enabling others to walk, wheel and cycle more
Club/Group of the Year
Awarded to a community club or group who has made a significant impact in their local community over the last 12 months
Coach of the Year
Awarded to a sports coach who has made a significant difference with a team or individual in the Borough over the last 12 months, showing dedication and endeavour
Community Sport Project
Awarded to a project which recognises the importance of physical activity and social inclusion which helps to make a difference in the local community
Disability Physical Activity Champion
Awarded to a person or group who have created opportunities for, and encouraged, people with a disability to be more physically active, or to a disabled sportsperson or team who has had noticeable success in their chosen sport
Instructor of the Year
Awarded to an instructor who has made a significant difference with a session, group or individual in the Borough over the last 12 months, showing dedication and endeavour
School Commitment to PE & Sport
Awarded to a school that has gone above and beyond in respect to incorporating physical activity into a school day for their pupils and/or staff
Unsung Hero
Awarded to a person or volunteer who has made a significant difference in the wider community
Volunteer of the Year
Awarded to a volunteer or volunteer coach who demonstrates commitment to their role, goes the extra mile and benefits the wider community
Young Sports Achiever of the Year
Awarded to young athletes (aged under 18), who are not professionally funded, who have had significant success in their sport at minimum county level over the last 12 months
