Group Exercise Instructor Tracey teaches Community Fun Dance at Heywood Sports Village. She has also just started a new community class – The Best of the 50s & 60s – at Alkrington Hub. Her classes are extremely popular and Tracey’s support to class participants means that some are now attending additional classes each week and also gaining confidence to return to exercise for the first time since the pandemic.

Tracey has made a difference to many of the ladies lives, and one nominated her to carry the Commonwealth Games Relay Baton. The nomination was successful and she carried it from Belle Vue to Ethiad Stadium.

The lady who nominated Tracey said, “Since I met you, I’ve never looked back. You always give me information on anything I need, welcome me and I come to you for information on the community which I need. During the pandemic, you signposted me to Your Trust, who helped to set me up with a tablet which made such a difference to my life during the pandemic. I still attend Your Trust walks and do the online quiz each week”

Whilst carrying the baton, Tracey was interviewed by both ITV and a local radio station and she described carrying the baton as “the best experience of my life” and that she felt overwhelmed and privileged.

Straight from carrying the baton, Tracey then headed over to Race for Life and completed the 5k charity walk-jog with 12 people from her walking group/Burnside community centre staff on the same afternoon and they raised £1,500 for Cancer Research.
