
This qualification aims to equip people with the skills and motivation to create and run sporting activities in the community.
It is a good foundation to progress onto the Level 3 Certificate in Higher Sports Leadership or a National Governing Body Award.
What will I learn?
This qualification uses sport to teach generic leadership skills. It enables successful candidates to independently lead small group of people in sport and recreational activities within community settings.
What’s involved?
Guided Learning hours: 26 study hours, plus a minimum of 5 hours volunteering in community sport activity
Sports Leaders UK awards and qualifications are practical and there are no formal examinations to sit. Assessment is ongoing through the course, and candidates are expected to complete a workbook, and deliver a 30 minute session to a small group at the end of the course.
Pre-requisites
For those aged 16+
Candidates need to complete a workbook, so need to have sufficient ability to read and write in English in order to achieve this.
Candidates who require any form of assistance, including support from a personal assistant or support worker to compete the course, should bring someone with them who can fulfil this role. We encourage anyone requiring support to contact us for a chat so that we can make sure that the course meets your needs and that we are able to offer any reasonable adjustments to assist you.
We assess all our venues for accessibility before booking them for courses, but if you have specific access needs such as a hearing loop or wheelchair access, we ask that you contact us so that we can make sure that the venue is able to accommodate your needs fully as we do not own or manage most of these venues.
