Member Success Story: Steven’s Incredible 15-Stone Transformation
“I feel fitter, stronger and far more confident. Simple things like being able to buy clothes from normal high street shops or walk around on holiday without a T shirt are things I would never have felt comfortable doing before.”

When Steven joined Heywood Sports Village, everyday activities had become a challenge. Simple tasks such as walking upstairs, tying shoelaces, travelling, and even playing with his children, were becoming increasingly difficult. At his heaviest weight, Steven felt his health and lifestyle were preventing him from fully enjoying family life.
The turning point came after seeing his wife achieve her own remarkable health transformation and realising, during a family holiday, how much his weight was limiting the experiences he could share with his children. Determined to make a change, Steven committed to taking control of his health and wellbeing.
Although already a member of Heywood Sports Village, Steven admits he lacked the knowledge and confidence to train effectively. Working alongside Personal Trainer Alex, gave him the skills, guidance and accountability needed to achieve lasting results. Through structured training, nutritional support and regular encouragement, Steven gradually transformed both his body and mindset.
Like any significant journey, there were challenges along the way. Steven learned that progress is not always shown straight away, and there were occasions when motivation dipped and results stalled. However, the ongoing support, combined with the encouragement of his family, helped him stay focused on his long-term goals and continue moving forward.
Today, Steven has lost an incredible 15 stone, completely transforming his quality of life. He now feels fitter, stronger and more confident than ever before. Activities that once seemed impossible, from everyday movement to family holidays, are now enjoyed with ease. Beyond the physical transformation, Steven says the greatest change has been the confidence gained from setting a challenging goal and proving to himself that he could achieve it.
Steven’s advice to those who want to start their fitness journey:
“Do not try to change everything at once. Start with smatt changes and build on them, getting little wins each day and week. Set yourself a personal goal and give yourself a clear target to work towards. Ask for support as well. The gym has a great community and people genuinely want to see each other do well. If you can, work With a coach like Alex, having someone to guide your training and nutrition and hold you accountable can make a massive difference.”

Why Steven chose Heywood Sports Village:
“The facilities are excellent and regularly updated. plus having the pool, thermal spa and memberships for the kids means we can use it as a family. Being local also makes it easy for me to train before work.”
