We visited the Touchstones site with the community curators to look at the progress of the space. We had a tour of the ground floor and The Dining Room, to find out what progress has been made so far.
Mark the site manager showed us round, we got to see all the new facilities, including a new creative art room with a kiln and a recording studio. Mark also showed us how much of the original features they have kept, including how they have lovingly polished and restored the floors.
We made it to the new dining room space, a big bright open space. The group all got an insight how the space is going to function, but there was still lots of work to do. The floor tiles had just arrived, and we got to see the brand-new kitchen, serving counter and theatre space. The group were all very excited and all can’t wait to see how The Dining Room space will all come together.
We discussed where some of the new collection’s cases might go, that the group have been co curating. We thought about the furniture layout and where the three new artists commissions will be installed.
Lots of excitement about the space, and a great sense of pride being able to shape and curate the objects from collections that will feed into the new dining room space!
