About the Project

Launching as a 3-month pilot project funded by Arts Council England, and delivered in partnership with Touchstones Rochdale, Movers, Shakers and Story makers offers free (term-time) weekly movement and storytelling sessions for 0-4 year olds and their adults, hosted within areas of social housing.

Over the last 3 months, we have delivered sessions centered around an object from the Touchstones collections. Through this, we have blended movement, drama, imagination and storytelling, ending with our collections team bringing a few items from our collections for families to look at it. Families explored learning, built confidence and play, alongside knowing more about Touchstones and the kind of activities that might take place in the galleries when we reopen.

Join us for a series of fun, free weekly sessions that blend movement, imagination and storytelling. Each workshop is inspired by a real object from the Touchstones Rochdale museum collection, giving children and parents the chance to explore stories together, build confidence and enjoy creative time as a family.

Alongside all the fun, there’s also time and space for parents and carers to chat with our facilitators and connect with other local families. It’s a warm, welcoming environment where children and adults can relax, learn and play together.

The sessions are facilitated by Wild Things Performing Arts CIC, a creative organisation specialising in imaginative play that sparks curiosity, creativity and joy in children and their grown-ups.
