This week, we were joined by another of Cartwheel Arts’ brilliant facilitators from the Crafting Heritage Project. Samiyah taught the group about the history and cultural significance of Pakistani Block Printing and then taught the group how to create their own prints.

It was a new skill to everyone and we learned together how to ink up the block prints and prepare the fabric to get the best possible print. Everyone tested out the techniques and then made beautiful final prints. This workshop reminded us of the different ways that cultural heritage passes down through the generations and can be sustained and shared through craft, food and storytelling.
