SHOW AND TELL

Call out for artwork by local creatives of Rochdale Borough!

Do you want to share you artwork and meet other likeminded local creatives? For Touchstones’ Side-by-Side Festival, we are inviting you to bring in your creations, to become part of our SHOW & TELL events.

The SHOW & TELL events are simple. Selected creatives bring their work, we will provide easels, tables, and light refreshments whilst you share your work with other creatives and the public in a relaxed and non-pressured environment. The events will take place in the beautiful Rochdale Town Hall Exchange. Our lovely staff team will be on hand to help set up your work securely and invigilate the space throughout the duration of the event.

You might be an artist, or you might have just made something you’re proud of or have a work in progress. No matter your age or ability, as long as it is two dimensional, less than 90cm x 90cm squared, and 4.5cm of depth and you live in Rochdale Borough, we’ll take it!

Be quick to sign up, as we have limited slots for each event and we will be taking suitable submissions on a first-come-first served basis. To take part, please follow these steps below.

  • Read carefully through the below Rules and Guidance and ensure your artwork is suitable for display.

  • We will review submissions and ensure they are suitable for display and contact you if you have been selected with a slot for you to bring your artwork at the events.
  • You bring your artwork at your allotted slot and stay for the event to connect with other local creatives.

Rules and Guidance

Please can all artists submitting work for display read the following rules and guidance before submitting work.

Rules

  1. The Side-by-Side SHOW & TELL events are open to all local artists from the Rochdale Borough, of all abilities, whether professional or enthusiast.
  2. Only one work per person may be entered.
  3. Entry is open to two dimensional works only – this could be a painting, drawing, photography, illustration for example.
  4. Works must be no bigger than 90cm x 90cm metre and 4.5cm in depth.
  5. Works must not contain material that is deemed offensive, derogatory or pornographic.

Under 18’s

If you are under the age of 18 you must be accompanied by adult at all times whilst participating in the event. If you are unable to be accompanied please let us know and we can arrange for you to be supported throughout the event by a member of the team.

Care of Works and Insurance

All works will be exhibited in Rochdale Town Hall Exchange, in use by the general public throughout the SHOW & TELL events duration of Side-by-Side Festival. As such Touchstones Rochdale does not accept liability for any loss or damage caused to the work whilst on display, whether caused by staff members or visitors/users of the building.

Touchstones Rochdale also makes no provision for individual insurance of works. All artists submitting work for exhibition are strongly advised to make their own arrangements in this regard.

Framing

All artists are strongly advised to frame their work before submission so that it can be safely displayed on easels. Frames should be have a maximum depth of 4.5cm.

Where works are submitted without frames we will display these on tables in the space.

Deposit of Work

Works will be displayed throughout your allotted slot for the SHOW & TELL events. These will take place on the following dates and times.

  • Wednesday 20th August 5.30pm – 7pm
  • Tuesday 26th August 5.30-7pm

If you are selected you are required to bring your work at the correct time and stay with your artwork at all times for the duration of the event. After the event finishes artists will take their work back with them. Touchstones or Rochdale Town Hall cannot store your artwork outside of the allotted event time.

Photographing work

The artist accepts and agrees that all works in the event may be photographed and/or reproduced for: press, publicity, promotion and advertising of Side-by-Side and/or its activities and/or its exhibitions in all territories in perpetuity.
