I’m Ric Philbin, Digital Coordinator at Touchstones. My job entails working with our collections to produce digital copies of objects (either photographs or 3D scans), looking at new technologies we can use to enhance our offer (such as 3D printed replicas of museum objects and different ways to provide interpretation alongside our exhibitions) and supporting other members of staff with technical support and training. I was recently scanning this stone tablet from Abydos. It is Ptolemaic period round-topped amulet depicting the son of Merti-heru adoring the Gods Ra and Horus. Reigning for 275 years, the Ptolemaic was the longest and last dynasty of ancient Egypt from 305 BC until its incorporation into the Roman Republic in 30 BC.
