Having first met as a group on 1 March 2024, we decided to celebrate a year of working together. Members of the group brought in food, including homemade samosa’s, pineapple fritters, school dinner fruit cake and puri puri. It was a feast that reflected the different histories we have shared over the past year. As the project continues throughout the coming year, we will focus in on different aspects of the Dining Room and how it can welcome communities once open. We will be forming small working groups to devise sensory bags and explorer kits for visitors of all ages to the space, a communal recipe sharing station where future visitors can collect and share recipes relating to the different heritage displays, and an oral history project training our community curators to record histories from their respective communities. We will continue to update the blog as each aspect develops and it will, no doubt be a busy year ahead!
