Theatre maker Isabella So joined the group, hosting a workshop around our favourite kitchen utensils.

What are the utensils that have travelled with us as we move between homes or from country to country? What histories have they been witness to? What memories do they hold?

Sharing their individual kitchen ware the group shared the dishes and connections each piece has helped them to create.

Before we shared our stories Isabella taught the group how to make Vietnamese rice paper rolls (월남쌈), using fresh raw veg, rice noodles and rice paper. She had prepared different dips to eat the rolls with and a warming drink of Korean barley or sicklepod tea, giving the group a taste of her own heritage story and creating an atmosphere of shared conversation.

The workshop formed part of Isabella’s current cross cultural theatre project ‘Plateful of Memories‘, intertwining food and personal narratives. You can learn more about Isabella’s project on her Instagram below.
