We are aware of the publication of the updated Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) Code of Practice.
It is important to note that the Code of Practice does not itself create or amend legislation. Rather, it provides guidance on how existing laws, including the Equality Act 2010, may be applied in practice.
Our approach remains to ensure full compliance with the law as it currently stands. We are carefully considering the implications of the statutory guidance now that it is in force.
We are undertaking a full review of our policies and procedures and are taking advice from our insurers, relevant sector bodies and Rochdale Borough Council as building owners.
We have established a working group to give careful consideration to the issues arising from the updated guidance. The group is actively reviewing the implications for our organisation, and we will provide further updates as they become available.
Throughout this process, we remain committed to treating all service users, volunteers and staff with dignity, respect and fairness.
