This April, we celebrated Earth Day with a fantastic, free event dedicated to reducing waste and saving our planet. Taking place at Rochdale’s magnificent Town Hall, the event was attended by over 500 people. We teamed up with Community Arts North West, The Town Hall, Pioneers Museum, Rochdale Libraries, and local primary schools, and hosted a day of learning and inspiration, including a special performance titled Force of Nature, in collaboration with Rochdale residents.

The theme was ‘Our Power, Our Planet’ and families explored this through a range of activities including kokedama planting; making lava lamps from recycled bottles; tote bag printing; seed bomb making and much more! We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended and all the wonderful stallholders who ran activities and shared information on how we can help our planet. Make sure to keep an eye on our newsletters to find out more about our future Earth Day events and how you can get involved, and view images of the day below!

We’ve been working with St Peter’s Primary School and artist Dani Lovette to create art work responding to the impact of waste materials on the environment. The children created 3D sculptures of endangered animals and banners displaying powerful messages, all from sustainable and waste materials.
