You’re kindling our interest…!

Today the volunteers enjoyed a trip to Fireground, a wonderful museum that tells the story of firefighting over the last 200 years.

David and Bob – the fantastic tour guides led the gave a wonderful short history about the building and the group to have a wander round and were on hand to answer any questions and give the volunteers a historical account and stories about the building including the tale of the  Town Hall fire in 1883 and the embarrassment for Rochdale fire fighters not putting the fire out but Oldham firefighters did!

Members of the group were lucky enough to sit in one of the fire engines and were given a fire helmet and for some it was the highlight of the day!

Fireground is a fantastic museum packed full of interesting objects and stories about the history of firefighting, check it out below.
