Getting into the Festive mood (with a good helping of food and fun!)

We had an amazing spread laid out for all to enjoy. Everyone tucked in and shared their personal stories about Christmas and how they spend it with their families and friends, the funny ones and the sad ones too.

There were a variety of different skills on show, they are a talented bunch! The volunteers:

  • Listened to Christmas carol tunes played on the flute.
  • Read out a poem in French and then translating it in English. The poem expressed the importance of friendship and love and holding onto beautiful memories once a person is no longer amongst their close-knit group.
  • Sang an ethereal song in her native (Nigerian) language and explained to the group the meaning of the song in English. The christmas song was about the saviour being born, spreading happiness and joy to the world of the wonderful news, and for families to spend Christmas time together with love and peace.
  • Gave an amazing and powerful performance singing the song ‘Killing me softly with his song’, by Roberta Flack.
  • Read poems in the Rochdale dialect.

Everyone had an incredible time and a day to remember!
