In the summer of 2022, Harry Meadley’s Free-for-All invited the people of Rochdale to use Touchstones’ gallery spaces however they wanted to. There were tea dances, an open exhibition, gong baths, DJ workshops, and so much more – all programmed for and by you.
In 2025, the next evolution of the project – Side-by-Side – will celebrate the re-opening of Touchstones following redevelopment, building on the experience of Free-for-All and working even more closely with our local communities.
For 2025, we’ve been hard at work connecting with groups and artists, and have recruited a team of five representatives from our local community who will help shape the Touchstones’ programme through Side-by-Side and beyond.
There will also be community events and opportunities for you to submit your ideas as Side-by-Side develops, so keep an eye on this page for updates.
