Mindful Movements

Taking part in physical activity not only improves your body’s health but it also contributes towards positive mental health. Physical activity can build children’s self-confidence, reduce anxiety and improve their self-esteem.

The UK Chief Medical Officers recommend that children do at least 60 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity every day.

Taking part in Mindful Movement activities can help towards improved concentration and focus, improve strength, flexibility and balance, increase social awareness and develop healthy responses to the busy world we live in.

Mindful Movements aims to support children’s mental health by giving them the tools and techniques to help create a better understanding of how they can manage situations and feelings. Using physical activity as a tool to deliver the programme, children will get to take part in a variety of activities to learn about mental health, physical health, emotions and feelings.

Activities will include:

  • Yoga-based activities and games
  • Breath awareness and breathing techniques
  • Mindfulness
  • Social activities
  • Sensory activities
  • Relaxation
